A blending of explosive color from a solitary Fuchsia bloom. The potent arrangement of the petals is almost like fabric with the deep purple layers blending with the vivid red beneath. My intent was to create a powerful visual effect with a fusion of dramatic colors in a delicate structure. Photographed in Tucson Arizona.

A mixed-media collage composed of a wide variety of textured and natural materials (palm bark, colored paper, cardboard, stones, paper mache pieces, yarn, medical tape, seed pods, and acrylic paint). The purpose was to create a piece that juxtaposes rough and earthy textures with smooth pebbles and dried vegetation… resulting in an organic sensory composition with a natural and earthy palette. A meditation on impermanence and a forgotten life… a rough and weathered grave stone lies almost lost among the vibrant green grass and dry pine needles… nameless and unidentified. The inscription on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington “…known but to God” comes to mind as you view the quiet assertion of dignity for the forgotten individual this stone memorializes. There are no county or cemetery records to identify this person. Photograph taken at the Angus Cemetery in Lincoln County New Mexico.

What appears to be a dysfunction junction of aluminum spaghetti is actually a detail from a dynamic and intricate street sculpture along Houghton Road just south of Tucson. The complete sculpture forms a tunnel-like structure through which walkers… joggers… and bicyclists can enjoy the sleek and complex aesthetic of the artwork. Tucson Arizona USA.
